Germinating potenial joy throgh art

Imagination is the most important faculty that we posses, but imagination can be our friend or our foe. Imagination allows us to visualize possibilities and options. Whether we germinate and cultivate our imagination or not, a lifetime of patterns of negative thoughts are deeply embedded based on our past experiences. Think of it as "stinkin thinkin"; toxic thoughts. We may not get rid of them entirely, but we can replace them with the help of art, journaling, dancing, or whatever creative activity of our choosing. We can set a goal to germinate the happiness that we know that we deserve.
So right now, at this time, I have a challenge for you. Are you ready? Well alright.... I will wait a short while. Now? Good!

  1.  On a small piece of paper, I would like you to write one negative thought that could be blocking your ability to move forward in search of what makes you happy.

Next, face it because it likely will not disappear soon. It takes a little work. O.K.... maybe alot of work, but we don't need to do it all at once, today.

  • Take the negative comment that you wrote down and set it on fire. Yes, burn baby, burn!. Oh, did I mention this is dangerous, so don't forget the fire hose.? Perhaps you want to let your family or roommates know ahead of time that you have everything under control.
  •  I would like you to take the ashes of your discontent and mix them with potting soil. O.K. just go outside and get a little dirt. Put the dirt and the ashes into a small cup, because we are going to grow some positive thoughts next.

Ready for what is coming next?O.K. I will wait a little while. Now, get some garden seeds, flower seeds, grass seed, or whatever you might have available that would represent "germination" because we will focus on the positive voice, now. Once you have the little seeds in the soil, get a garden marker, Popsicle stick, or little dowel to mark down at least one positive thought about yourself. Yes you can!
The planting of seeds is symbolic of growth. Our little activity is about empowering ourselves through positive thoughts. If you take the little plant and put it on the window, you will have a visual reminder of what you might continue to work on. The power of positive thinking. We are working on your happiness. So, dance, sing, make art, journal, or play in the mud.
